Objective
Update the saved settings for a generated forecast and understand which values can change its results.
Environment
- You have access to a generated forecast and permission to edit its parameters.
- You know the forecast dates, historical period, timezone, and interval your planning process should use.
Resolution
- Open the generated forecast and select Parameters. Review the saved configuration and the attached historical data summary before editing.
The Parameters tab shows the forecast period, timezone, intervals, historical data summary, and calculated model accuracy. - Select Edit Parameters. Review the editable settings: Name changes the forecast label but not its calculation; Timezone aligns dates and interval boundaries; Forecast Period sets the dates for which demand is calculated; Forecast Interval sets the size of each forecast time bucket, such as the 60-minute interval shown; Historical Data Period selects the dates used as forecast input; and Historical Interval sets the bucket size of that historical input. Choose a representative history and intervals that fit your planning needs, then save the changes.Important: A rerun can change planning results
After you save changes and rerun, forecasted volumes can differ from the results already calculated. Required coverage calculated from those volumes can change too. Review the new volumes and coverage, plus any schedules that rely on them, before using or publishing the updated plan.
- Review the Parameters page again. Data Points is a count of available historical observations, not an editable setting. The Historical Data Attached panel summarizes the source date range, duration, record count, detected channel mappings, and interval. Model Accuracy reports a model result; it is not a parameter to edit.
- Select Rerun Forecast when you want the forecast recalculated from the updated settings. Wait for the run to complete, then review the new forecast for the intended dates and timezone.
- Review both Inbound Volumes and Required Coverage for the same date, queue, and channel scope. For guidance on reading these results, see How To Review Forecast Outcomes.
If the new results will be used in a schedule or shared as a planning baseline, review the affected schedule and communicate the change to the planners who rely on it.
