# Resolve A Schedule Validation Warning

## Symptom(s)

A validation run reports a warning, or a warning appears under **Current findings** for a schedule you are preparing to publish.

## Environment

- You can review the schedule and its validation findings in **Scheduling**.
- You have scheduling edit access if the resolution requires changing shifts or activities.

## Cause(s)

A warning identifies a schedule item that may conflict with a configured rule. The finding's details, scope, and affected person determine whether the schedule or the rule needs review.

## Resolution

1. Open the schedule and select **Validations**. Open the relevant entry in **Validation runs**, or choose **Current findings** to review outstanding warnings across runs.
2. Filter by **Severity** if needed. Read the warning's explanation, affected person and date, and any rule or jurisdiction shown. Check the run's **Scope** and **Evaluated** values before drawing a conclusion about the rest of the schedule.
3. Inspect the affected shift or activity in the planner. Compare its timing and assignment with the rule. If the schedule is wrong, edit the item and save the schedule. If the rule appears wrong, ask a person who manages scheduling rules to review its configuration.
4. Run a new validation that includes the affected person and date. Open the new run to check whether the warning still appears. A previous run remains a record of the version it checked.
5. If the warning is expected and your team's process permits an exception, use **Acknowledge** on the finding after reviewing it. Record the reason through your normal team process. If you cannot determine the cause, give the scheduling owner the warning text, affected person and date, and validation run scope.

## Notes on this article

### Important: Acknowledgment does not fix a warning

After step 5 in resolution. Acknowledge records that the finding was reviewed. It does not change the schedule or its rule.
