# How Critical Checks And Unscored Insights Work

## Definition

A scorecard can combine **Weighted** groups that produce a percentage score, **Critical** groups that report a separate pass or failure, and **Insight** groups that capture information without adding points.

## Context

Open a scorecard in [QA Settings · Scorecards](https://wfm.zenops.cx/settings/service/qa-analysis/scorecards) to see its groups and criteria. A person with **Quality: Manage** can change a draft; published versions are read-only.

## Attributes

- **Weighted criteria:** Their percentage points form the numeric score. Enabled weighted groups must total 100% before publication. An N/A result removes that criterion from scoring and renormalizes the remaining applicable weight.
- **Critical checks:** These criteria are outside the numeric score. A failed critical criterion marks the evaluation as a critical failure even when its numeric score is high. Use them for requirements whose failure should be visible independently of an average.
- **Unscored insights:** Insight criteria collect structured observations, such as ticket difficulty, without contributing points or triggering the critical gate. They can add context for a reviewer without changing the grade.
- **Disabled criteria:** A disabled criterion remains in the scorecard definition but does not count in the evaluation.

When designing a standard, put a requirement in the group mode that matches how its result should affect review. See [How To Add And Weight Criteria](/help/articles/qa-how-to-add-and-weight-criteria/) for scoring setup and [How Scorecard Versions Affect Evaluations](/help/articles/qa-how-scorecard-versions-affect-evaluations/) for how the published standard is retained.
