# Investigate An Alert That Did Not Appear Or Clear As Expected

## Issue(s)

An expected alert is absent, or an alert remains active after the visible condition changed.

## Environment

- You can inspect the alert rule, **Active Alerts**, and **Alert History**.

## Cause(s)

- The rule may be disabled, outside its schedule, or scoped to another channel or queue.
- The measured condition may not have crossed the saved threshold.
- The current dashboard and alert evaluation may refer to different update times.

## Diagnostic

1. Open **Alert Rules** and check status, schedule, scope, threshold, and check interval.
2. Compare the actual metric and time with the rule criteria.
3. Check **Active Alerts** and **Alert History**, including **Chronological** and **Paired** views, for a trigger or recovery event.
4. If unexplained, give support the rule name, observed metric, time, and expected trigger or recovery.

### Note: Check the scope

In diagnostic. Do not change a rule solely to force an expected alert; first confirm its original criteria and data window.
