Objective

Validate agent requests against your organization’s notice requirements and choose how rule violations are handled.

Environment

  • You have permission to manage Scheduling Settings.
  • You know which request types and time-off types each rule should cover, and the notice period required.

Resolution

  1. Open Scheduling Settings → Request Rules. Review the existing rules, including their scope, priority, and status.
Review existing rules, their scope, priority, and status before creating another rule.
  2. Select Create new rule or edit an existing rule. Enter a clear Rule Name, add an optional Description, choose a Rule Type, and set its Priority.
The Edit Rule form sets the rule type, priority, request scope, validation value, and violation handling.
    Note: Priority order matters

Higher priority rules are checked first. When rules overlap, confirm the order matches the validation you intend.

  3. Under Applies to Request Types and Applies to Time Off Type, choose the requests this rule should validate.
  4. In Rule Configuration, enter the values required by the selected rule type. For Minimum Advance Notice, set the Number of Days.
  5. Choose whether to Block submission if this rule is violated and whether to Allow manual approval for requests that violate this rule.
  6. Save the rule, then confirm the list shows its intended scope, priority, and status.
