# How To Configure Outliers

## Objective

Mark unusual historical periods so they do not distort the data used for forecasting.

## Environment

- You have permission to manage **Forecasting Settings**.
- You know when the unusual event occurred and can describe why that period should be excluded.

## Resolution

1. Open **Forecasting Settings** → **Outliers**. Review existing exceptions, including any detected from uploaded data, before adding another for the same period.
2. Select **Add Outlier**. Enter a **Name**, **Start Date**, **End Date**, and **Reason**. Add **Notes** if the event needs more explanation.
3. Set **Start Time** and **End Time** when only part of a day should be excluded. Leave both times blank to exclude full days, then save.
4. Confirm the outlier appears in the list with the correct period and active state. Edit or deactivate an incorrect entry before the next forecast.

## Notes on this article

### Note: The time range is continuous

After step 3 in resolution. Entering times creates one continuous window from the start date through the end date. Check the full range before saving.
