# How To Assign WFM Roles And Permissions

## Objective

Give each person the access needed for their WFM work.

## Environment

- You are an administrator with permission to manage users. Editing the permissions of a role also requires administrator access.
- The people you want to assign have profiles in **People Settings**.

## Resolution

1. Open **People Settings** → **Roles** and review the access shown for **Admin**, **Manager**, **Team Lead**, **Standard**, and **Basic**. Choose the role that fits each person's responsibilities.
2. If the role's access needs adjustment, select **Edit** for that role. Review its permission values, change only the access your organization intends to grant, and select **Save**.
3. Open **Users**. Find a person, select the edit action, choose their **Role**, and select **Update Person**.
4. Check the role displayed in the **Users** list. Repeat for other people who need a different role.

Role names are a starting point; the role's saved permissions determine access. See [Roles And Access In ZenOps WFM](/help/articles/roles-and-access-in-zenops-wfm/) for the access model.

## Notes on this article

### Important: Role edits affect everyone

After step 2 in resolution. Changing a role’s saved permissions changes access for every person assigned to that role.
